Renaissance World Golf Resort in St. Augustine, Florida captures

Atrium Hotels has contracted Complete Property Services to remodel all of the Guestrooms, Conversion Rooms, Ballrooms, Meeting Rooms, Lobby Area, Bar, and Restaurant @ the Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village.

The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village, which completed an impressive $10 million property-wide renovation in July 2008, captured the “Best Renovation of the Year Award” for a franchised property at the recent 2008 Marriott International National Association (MINA) conference.

Marriott judges awarded the honor based on the quality of the finished product in terms of workmanship, products used, and overall appearance. The category also was judged based on the significance of the scope of the work, how the resort worked in partnership with the Marriott design team, how the resort embraced and promoted the design direction of the Marriott Brand, and how the resort embraced and promoted brand initiatives.

“We are very proud of this prestigious honor,” said Mark Schwantner, general manager of the 301-room resort, which is located within the lush 6,300-acre World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Florida. “This award recognizes the quality of the renovation project, and the dramatic improvements made to our resort. Our staff worked very hard to ensure the renovation projects were done right and well, and this award is a very nice tribute to everyone’s hard work.”

Located next to the impressive World Golf Hall of Fame, The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village remodeled all 301 guest rooms and suites, dramatically changed the lobby atrium and entry area, remodeled all guest room corridors, expanded and enhanced its fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment, remodeled its billiard room, enhanced its meeting space with new carpet, and renovated its business center. In addition, the resort also remodeled its restaurant and bar, which opened in April 2008 as a new restaurant and bar called 500 South, An American Grill.

Guest rooms and suites now feature all new furniture, soft goods, window treatments, and lighting. Guest rooms also boast new flat-panel screen LCD HDTV televisions, and the signature Marriott JackPack, which provides complete connectivity to the guests for laptops, MP3 players, digital cameras, and video game players.

The rooms and suites feature a contemporary design with an Asian feel, which includes rich red bed coverings with crisp white linens, along with a complementary color scheme of warm neutral gold. In-room offerings also include high-speed Internet access, two telephones with data ports, a wet bar and refrigerator, and in-room coffee.

The entry of the resort boasts beautiful new flooring, wood-wrapped columns, and accents of the Florida citrus colors. The entry leads to a dramatically remodeled 10-story atrium lobby, which now has a Colonial/Asian theme with new furniture, carpeting and foliage, as well as a colorful new 7-story modern hanging sculpture that captures the wind and air elements, reminiscent of open Florida skies.
In addition, the lobby features new conversational seating areas, which are also positioned near the resort’s bar. The bar was remodeled, and features a large center-standing TV, with new furniture in colors of vibrant red and orange with accents of bright green.

The new restaurant, named 500 South, is adjacent to the bar in the lobby and boasts a picturesque full-length wine wall, as well as colorful new furniture, warm wood tones and new lighting. The restaurant specializes in New American Regional Cuisine, using the freshest ingredients in the region, and features a large wine and cocktail list.

The resort’s meeting space, including the 26,450-square-foot St. Augustine Ballroom, received new carpet and wall finishes. The resort also added flex-back chairs for all meeting space. Together with the adjoining St. Johns County Convention Center and the adjacent World Golf Hall of Fame, the resort is the largest combination hotel and conference center between Atlanta and Orlando, with 86,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
